In 1946, two like-minded classmates from Syracuse University School of Law, Laurence “Larry” Sovik and John Timothy Smith, founded their own litigation boutique. Later joined by Larry’s son, Laurence “Fritz” Sovik, the firm primarily focused on litigation and trial practice. Soon, they were not only one of the premier litigation and appellate firms in Central New York – they had earned a reputation as some of the most aggressive, hard-nosed and successful trial attorneys in the area.
Today, Smith Sovik maintains that reputation throughout New York State. Our center of operations is still in Syracuse, but our attorneys try cases in all the State and Federal courts. Our downstate office in East Meadow services Long Island, New York City and the counties in southeastern New York State, while our Buffalo office services Western New York. Just like our founders, today Smith Sovik handles almost all types of litigation and attacks every case with a winning mindset.
