Karen returns to Smith Sovik after a 15 year hiatus during which time she worked as a Law Clerk for Hon. Norman A. Mordue, now a Senior United States Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York.
While working for Judge Mordue, Karen fine-tuned her research and writing skills addressing a full array of criminal matters under United States jurisdiction, civil rights suits to federal and state habeas petitions, matters involving federal regulatory agencies, patent and copyright disputes and all types of civil litigation including diversity issues.
At Smith Sovik, Karen will focus on research, writing and Appellate Advocacy in all areas of civil litigation including Labor Law, professional malpractice, insurance coverage issues, premises liability, products liability and toxic tort and motor vehicle accidents.
Karen is a 1992 graduate of Albany Law School and a 1989 graduate of Boston University.
