In 1946, two like-minded classmates from Syracuse University School of Law, Laurence “Larry” Sovik and John Timothy Smith, founded their own litigation boutique.  Later joined by Larry’s son, Laurence “Fritz” Sovik, the firm primarily focused on litigation and trial practice. Soon, they were not only one of the premier litigation and appellate firms in Central New York – they had earned a reputation as some of the most aggressive, hard-nosed and successful trial attorneys in the area.

Today, Smith Sovik maintains that reputation throughout New York State. Our center of operations is still in Syracuse, but our attorneys try cases in all the State and Federal courts. Our downstate office in Uniondale services Long Island and New York City and our new Hudson Valley office in Fishkill serves New York City and the counties in southeastern New York State as well as the Hudson Valley area. Our Buffalo office handles cases in Rochester and Western New York. Just like our founders, today Smith Sovik handles almost all types of litigation all over the Empire State and attacks every case with a winning mindset.
