Joe is an Associate in Smith Sovik’s Syracuse office. He focuses his practice on defending construction accident, premises liability, motor vehicle, trucking, professional liability, insurance coverage, and products liability cases. Joe joined the firm after graduating cum laude from the Syracuse University College of Law where he was a member of the Syracuse Law Review, a Teaching Assistant to the Vice-Dean, won several CALI awards, and was inducted into the Justinian Honor Society. Joe previously clerked at a construction litigation firm handling various contract and defect claims and returns to Smith Sovik after working as a summer associate.
Before law school, Joe worked in a civil engineering design firm as a designer and inspector on various public and private projects. Before that, he worked at a construction management firm focused on residential and commercial development, starting out as a laborer and leaving as a construction cost estimator. Joe is an avid golfer and a former Division III NCAA Ice Hockey Semi-Finalist. Joe lives in Liverpool with his wife, Anna, and their dog Bandit.
