With sadness, we share with our many friends and clients, the news of the recent passing of our partner William (Bill) Sugnet on 3/17/19. Bill was the firm’s managing partner for many years; his influence looms forever large both inside and outside these walls. His close connections with and great respect from, the insurance industry, even to this day, explains the many insurance clients who trust us with their business. Along with his partner and cohort, the late Laurence ( Fritz ) Sovik, they provided the leadership which explains the growth of SMITH SOVIK from a six person firm in the early 1980’s to where it is today. Bill was the consummate trial lawyer who served as President to the Onondaga County Bar Association and was honored as a 50 year member. We’ve missed him since his retirement in 1999 when he moved with his wife Hete to be near family in Bend, Oregon. We still miss him….he was a true gentleman and friend.
