Eric Johnson successfully defended a radiologist in Onondaga County Supreme Court who plaintiffs claimed failed to properly interpret a post-operative CT scan and missed a duodenal leak. The plaintiffs claimed that because of the alleged miss on the CT scan, the plaintiff patient was forced to undergo several additional abdominal surgeries, and became septic and was intubated, and ultimately required a months-long hospitalization, subsequent care in a rehabilitation facility, and several months of home health care. Plaintiffs further claimed lost wages, lost benefits and other economic loss. In defending the action, Eric successfully proved that the interpretation of the CT by the radiologist was proper, and a duodenal leak was not in fact missed, as it did not develop until after the CT was performed and interpreted. The jury was out for less than an hour before it returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Eric’s client.
