Eric Johnson obtained a defense verdict in a week long medical malpractice trial in Supreme Court, Onondaga County. Eric represented a neurosurgeon who was claimed to have negligently performed a Chiari decompression surgery on the plaintiff. The plaintiff claimed that as a result of the neurosurgeon’s negligence, she suffered from a condition called cerebellar ptosis (slumping of the brain) which caused her to be incapacitated until she had another surgery 5 years later to correct and address the condition she claimed the neurosurgeon caused. After a little more than an hour of deliberations the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Eric’s client, finding him not negligent.
