Jaclyn S. Wanemaker joins James W. Cunningham, Kevin E. Hulslander, and James D. Lantier in Smith Sovik’s growing mediation services group. Jaclyn has an extensive background in all aspects of litigating personal injury claims on the side of both plaintiffs and defendants which uniquely qualifies her to be an inciteful and unbiased mediator. For the first part of her career, Jaclyn focused on representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters. Her practice has shifted to defending personal injury claims and she has over a decade of experience handling defense work. Jaclyn is NYSBA certified and has a strong track record of objectively and effectively resolving disputes through mediation and arbitration.
Jaclyn is a native of Buffalo and a 2003 cum laude graduate of University of Buffalo Law School. She has been practicing law in Western New York for over 18 years with experience representing businesses, municipalities and individuals in premises liability, motor vehicle accident, products liability, Labor Law and medical malpractice cases. She also handled defamation and First Amendment matters and environmental and toxic tort litigation and has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury cases involving catastrophic injury and death. She handles cases from inception to verdict, including appeals. She has successfully handled scores of motions and appeals and has trial experience in New York State Supreme Court, Court of Claims and Justice Courts. She is an active member of the Erie County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association and has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers several times.
