Kevin Hulslander and Jim Lantier recently got a nice med mal win for a pain management doctor in Onondaga County Supreme Court. The plaintiff suffered a severe hematoma post cervical epidural causing her to undergo emergency fusion surgery from C-2 to T-1. She claimed the defendant doctor should not have performed the injection in the first instance. Hulslander and his expert neuroradiologist and pain management physician carried the day establishing the need for the injection despite the well-known but rare potential bleeding complication. The jury returned a defense verdict after 1.5 hours of deliberations.
