Smith Sovik Welcomes Three Attorneys!

Smith Sovik Kendrick & Sugnet is pleased to announce the addition of three Attorneys to the Firm. Thomas J. DeBernardis and Annie M. Millar join the Syracuse office and Sofia L. Rezvani will work out of the Buffalo Office.

Tom DeBernardis is a 2018 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law. While in law school, Tom was an Executive Board Member of the National Moot Court Honor Society and a member of the National Trial Team. Tom was a member of the American Association for Justice Trial Team that won the northeast regional championship in 2017, and 2018, and placed fifth overall in the entire nation at the 2018 national finals. Tom received CALI awards for the highest overall performance in Appellate Advocacy, and for his work as a law clerk in the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office during his 2L year where he wrote several briefs and motions and argued in Onondaga County Court.

Tom also worked as a law clerk in the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York where he assisted federal prosecutors on a major synthetic drug conspiracy trial.

Annie Millar is a Central New York native who graduated from Hartwick College and the Syracuse University College of Law where she received the College of Law’s Robert W. Miller Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy and the CALI Award for highest overall performance in Trial Practice. She was a member of the National Trial Team, an Executive Board member for the Moot Court Honor Society, the Technology Editor for the Journal of Science and Technology and a judicial intern/clerk in the Northern District of New York.

Sofia Rezvani is a University of California at Davis graduate who then attended Syracuse University College of Law graduating cum laude in 2018. Sofia served as the Associate Members Director of the Moot Court Honor Society, was a member of the Syracuse Law Review, and was inducted into the Justinian Honor Society. She received the CALI Award in Constitutional Law II, Trial Practice, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Legal Communication and Research II. In 2017, Sofia was a quarter-finalist in the 40th Annual Lionel O. Grossman Trial Competition and was a student law clerk for the Hon. James P. Murphy, New York State Supreme Court, 5th Judicial District.
At the firm, Tom, Annie, and Sofia will work in all areas of litigation including medical malpractice, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, products liability, construction site accidents, contract disputes and labor employment matters.
